Emma Dewey
Emma Dewey joined JAMaROO Kids in 2023 as a part-time teacher with a degree in Dance & Anthropology from Bowdoin College. Emma is a Bay Area native with over a decade of childcare experience in various roles — a camp counselor, nanny, and classroom support teacher.
Emma has spent the past 6 summers teaching dance at Camp Winnarainbow, the place where she discovered her love of dance at the age of 12. She draws her experience from her summers as a camp counselor, participating in sing-alongs around the campfire to bring her love of music and dance to young children.
Emma is a dancer and choreographer with training in a variety of styles of dance ranging from competitive ballroom, hip-hop, improvisation and modern techniques. She is currently a company member with Dancing Earth Creations in addition to choreographing her own work.
When Emma is not teaching, you can find her dancing with friends, reading, or spending time at the ocean.
When asked what she loves about teaching for JAMaROO Kids and working with children, Emma said, “being able to hold joyous and creative movement spaces for all children is deeply meaningful work for me. I believe that dance is our birthright and imagination is our most sacred tool, and I learn so much from our students everyday about how to play and dream.”
