Sara Jayne McDonald
Sara Jayne McDonald joined JAMAROO Kids in the Spring of 2019 as a full-time teacher. She has earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Latin American History from Oswego University in upstate New York, where she grew up and then had the opportunity to live in South America for a year, where she was able to use her Spanish first hand. She also has over 12 ECE units, fulfilling the CA State licensing requirement for preschool teachers.
Her experience working with children spans over the past 10+ years and includes various forms of teaching preschool, English, music lessons, and tutoring, as well as children’s entertainment and camp counseling.
Sara Jayne is formally trained in cello, which she began playing at the age of eight, and is also self-taught in ukulele and a variety of percussion instruments, including the cajon drum and glockenspiel.
When Sara Jayne isn’t teaching, you can find her filling her free time playing in a folk trio and a local women’s orchestra. She loves going to see live music, especially the symphony.
When Sara Jayne was asked what she loves about teaching for JAMaROO Kids and working with children she responded with, “JAMaROO is an awesome way for me to use my talents, instill compassion and music appreciation in the next generation, and bring joy to children and their caregivers. I value how affirming this work is very much!”
Sara Jayne’s favorite things are: Glitter, Sailor Moon, Soul and Classical Music, Dancing, Performing and Cycling
