Laura Godoy

Laura joined JAMaROO Kids in the Fall of 2024 as a full-time bilingual North Bay-based instructor with over 10 years of teaching experience. Prior to joining JAMaROO Kids, she spent 5 years studying Early Childhood Pedagogy, which combines theory with practice—creating activities and exercises from different cultures, backgrounds, abilities, and viewpoints. Her experience with young children also includes being an Aupair.

Laura was born in Colombia where she taught preschool. She then traveled to Barbados to work as a Spanish Tutor before becoming a traveling tutor in Trinidad y Tobago, Panama, and Mexico. While in Barbados, she also taught Zumba classes to young children. Laura came to the U.S. to continue working as a Spanish tutor, eventually making her way to California. By 2019, She took a role as Lead Preschool Teacher for 2 years before taking a break to get married and become a mother.

Laura learned to play guitar and piano when she was only 12 and sang in her school choir as a child. She created a rock band at age 16 and played in cities throughout Colombia with her best friend. As an adult, she now also plays the ukulele. Laura’s creative talents cross all art mediums! In her free time, she loves creating jewelry, making sculptures, taking fashion design courses and creating new clothes. She enjoys going to concerts and festivals and practicing yoga with her 3 yr old son, Benjamin.

When asked what she loves about working at JAMaROO Kids, Laura said, “As a preschool teacher, circle time was my favorite part of the day! What I love about working with JAMaROO is that I’m doing circle time activities all day long. I love to dance, sing and play with the kids while we are all learning together!”

Fun Facts about Laura: My family rescued a lot of animals; we had monkeys, iguanas, and cows in my house growing up.
